Max Verstappen has had a controversial weekend in Singapore. The Dutch driver was the first driver to be penalized over FIA’s ban on swear words. The three-time world champion revealed that his discontent towards this rule was the cause of his short answers in press conferences.

After Singapore GP Qualifying, Verstappen just gave blunt 1-word responses to the media. Although, the three-time world champion held his own press conference in the middle of the paddock for detailed answers.

On Sunday, Max Verstappen claimed that there was no reason for him to suddenly be nice to the FIA and pretend that nothing was wrong. Moreover, the 26-year-old made it clear that he felt that the penalty was ridiculous. As such, Verstappen insisted that his approach was logical.

Max Verstappen gives robot comparison over FIA swear ban

The reigning world champion highlighted that if a driver was not allowed to be themselves, it was simply better to not talk at all. Max Verstappen asserted that no one would want to be in such a situation as it makes a person nothing short of a robot.
