Red Bull driver Max Verstappen is now a four-time champion of the world at the pinnacle of motorsport. The 27-year-old leads the drivers’ championship by 64 points heading into the last two races of the season.

Max Verstappen‘s current season has not been as dominant as his previous ones. The Dutchman started off amassing seven wins out of the first ten races but has failed to perform as effectively since then. He had been winless for about four months until his last victory at Interlagos a few weeks back.

The 27-year-old has thereafter talked of feeling despair during the Italian Grand Prix this year. Verstappen claims that nothing felt right within the Milton-Keynes-based team when he finished P6 in Monza this year.

Reporter: Have you felt despair somewhere in the season?
Max Verstappen: Around Monza, I didn’t think it felt right. and then the lead decreases quickly. But to become a champion, you have to be consistent. and the people surrounding me haven’t always been consistent.

Max Verstappen responded to Viaplay.

Verstappen now heads into the last two races relieved of all pressure and challenges. His aim will still be to perform to the best of his abilities in order to help Red Bull win the constructors’ title here on.

Fast, consistent, and even when he was winning race after race last year and people thought it was easy. It is not easy to win races, even when he looks easy, so really hats off to Verstappen. Well done to Red Bull for supporting this incredible driver.

Andrea Stella said after the Las Vegas GP.

Andrea Stella has applauded Verstappen’s persistence in fighting for wins despite not having the fastest car all year round. Stella has also congratulated the Milton Keynes-based team for selflessly supporting the Dutchman in his bouts.

McLaren now leads the constructors’ championship by a narrow margin of 24 points to second-placed Ferrari. As the drivers’ title is no longer in contention, the Papayas will shift their focus to attain their first silverware since 1997.
