Max Verstappen‘s start to the British GP weekend was insignificant as he couldn’t perform well during the practice sessions. The Dutchman seemed to be on the back foot in terms of pace in Silverstone as he wasn’t really excited for Qualifying. However, despite Red Bull’s pace seemingly deteriorating, Verstappen lodged a shocking lap and clinched pole position by keeping the two McLarens at bay.

The British GP weekend was bound to be tough for Max Verstappen, especially due to the incessant Mercedes rumors. The Dutchman was the center of attention in the UK for all the wrong reasons at the start. However, with a pole position, the situation might change completely as Verstappen looks ahead to a promising start to the main event on Sunday. The Dutchman weighs in on achieving a completely unexpected P1 start in Silverstone.

Max Verstappen, despite the disappointing circumstances, refused to comment on Red Bull’s exit and insisted that he aimed to finish his career with the same team. Now, speaking on the pace at the British GP, Verstappen asserted that the car remained quite quick on the straights. Due to this, the 27-year-old is in a very happy mood as Milton Keynes finally achieved a big boost in terms of pace.

We are quite quick on the straight, we have to wait and see what tomorrow will do but I am happy – it is a big boost for the team and excited to go racing tomorrow.

Max Verstappen said in a post-qualifying interview

Verstappen is hopeful of an amazing outing in Silverstone as he looks ahead to going racing and giving it his all on Sunday. The Dutchman is currently adrift of the championship leader, Oscar Piastri, by 61 points as he aims to bridge the point disparity, slowly but surely. The 27-year-old reckoned that he would try his best to have as much fun as possible while maximizing points over the race weekend.

We are going to go racing, we are going to have fun and we are going to do the best we can.

Christian Horner applauds ‘wonderful’ performance from Max Verstappen at the British GP

Red Bull’s woes might seem to be at ease now that Max Verstappen has achieved the pole position and has a great shot at achieving the race win. However, it would be too premature to celebrate already, as Ferrari and McLaren’s pace looks strong as well. Still, Christian Horner is glad that the 27-year-old brought home the P1 start and has given it his all to remain at the top of his game, no matter the adversities.

Christian Horner applauded Max Verstappen’s wonderful performance that helped him achieve the pole position. Moreover, the Englishman credited the hard-working crew at Red Bull, which found pace in the car following the practice sessions. After fine-tuning the car, Verstappen was able to bring in great results as Horner labels the pole position as a ‘very special one’.

Wonderful lap from Max, but credit to the team as well who have been hard at work fine-tuning [the car], and we brought some bits here as well. That pole was a very special one.

Christian Horner said in a post-quali interview

Red Bull still hasn’t ended all their problems with just a pole position in Silverstone. The second driver problem still exists as Yuki Tsunoda suffered a Q2 elimination in the Qualifying. Now, Milton Keynes will have to ensure that both drivers are able to perform well and achieve great points for the team over the upcoming race weekends. The 2025 season is halfway over as the Austrian outfit must now analyze the situation and work to achieve a sudden turnaround, as any later than this would be too late.
