Max Verstappen had a fallout with the FIA in 2024. The sports governing body penalized the reigning world champion for swearing during a press conference. Now, Verstappen has hit out at the FIA once again over the situation.
The four-time world champion made it clear that he didn’t like this about F1. Max Verstappen acknowledged that swearing is not ideal in press conferences, but defended himself by saying that his expression just came out quickly. Verstappen recently fulfilled his community service duties as his penalty.
Max Verstappen accepted that drivers need to watch their language, especially during live coverage. However, the Red Bull star claimed that being punished ‘like a little kid’ made him wonder what the sport was doing.
Max Verstappen used to swear at age of 5
The 27-year-old highlighted that many have defended FIA’s stance, claiming that five-year-old kids watch F1 and would be negatively influenced by swear words. Verstappen recalled that when he used to sit with adults as a five-year-old, he would often swear as well.
Verstappen remains unhappy with FIA’s handling of the swearing situation. Things seemed to have calmed down after he met President Mohammed Ben Sulayem in Rwanda. Though, it seems that both sides are going to hold a grudge at least till the next season.
