Helmut Marko reveals the factor ‘motivating’ him to continue working for Red Bull

Helmut Marko and Max Verstappen’s close relationship is well renowned to the world. With Marko reaching over 81 years of age, he revealed the factors still motivating him to continue working. The Austrian revealed that Verstappen was one of the reasons, with Red Bull’s ‘spirit’ being the second reason. Moreover, Marko labeled the 27-year-old a ‘star’ who was direct, approachable, and a great sportsman.

I still do this job for two reasons: one is Max, and the other is to preserve the spirit of Red Bull and Dietrich Mateschitz in the racing team. The boss always said: “We don’t buy stars; we make stars.” Max is the perfect example of that—direct, approachable, and a great sportsman. It is wonderful to work with someone like that. I have never felt so connected to a driver.

Helmut Marko told formule1.nl

Verstappen has remained a favorite for a majority of the fans in Formula 1 despite his hard racing attitude. The Dutchman is highly likely to showcase a similar if not better performance in 2025, provided Red Bull comes up with a decent chassis. The 27-year-old will also need to give more time to his family following Piquet’s recently announced pregnancy.
