The 2024 season peaked in competition as well as controversies. Amidst McLaren’s dominant pace, the team was suspected of using illegal tricks to gain an advantage. Despite the FIA clearing the team of any allegations, Max Verstappen shared a cryptic message about the teams using such tricks to gain an advantage.
Midway through the 2024 season, Red Bull lodged a complaint against McLaren and some other teams for allegedly manipulating tire temperatures. According to the statement, the teams put water inside the tires, which helped them cool down faster. Moreover, the papaya outfit’s rear wing was found to breach chassis development regulations.
Upon this, Max Verstappen shared a blunt message. The Dutchman highlighted that illegal ‘things’ happened in the background. This meant that Red Bull had no chance to overcome the rivals in terms of pace. Moreover, the 27-year-old raised surety over the fact that none of the teams would accept their wrongdoings in the chassis.
Max Verstappen anticipates not becoming a ‘champion’ in the coming season
Max Verstappen emerged victorious as a fourth-time world champion in the 2024 season despite massive struggles in performance. Red Bull was unable to overcome the rival teams in terms of pace. As a result, the 27-year-old accepted that he might not become the world champion in the coming season if the team continued like this.
Verstappen has already etched his name in the record books after winning four consecutive titles. The Dutchman could extend his legacy if he could amass a fifth title in 2025. However, as depicted by the events, Red Bull is unlikely to enable the 27-year-old to contend for the championship in the coming season.
Red Bull will undergo massive personnel change in 2025 especially with Sergio Perez being replaced. Moreover, the team will have to work extremely hard on their pace to manage a better start. As a result, next year’s campaign will be extremely exciting to witness how Milton Keynes revives performance in its chassis.
