Max Verstappen has been racing in Formula 1 since the 2015 season under Red Bull. The Dutchman hasn’t looked back in performance since then. Though Verstappen claimed that he achieved everything he wanted from the sport after one title win, he still has a contract until the end of the 2028 season. With new regulations being introduced in 2026, the 28-year-old has revealed what it would take for him to exit the sport.

Max Verstappen is completely loyal to Red Bull and has reassured time and again that his priority is not to change teams. Moreover, the Dutchman has also achieved a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction from his F1 career. Still, Verstappen will end the contract with Milton Keynes and probably look into other options as he certainly wants to race in other motorsport categories.

For now, Max Verstappen predicted what it would take for him to deem a shocking exit from Formula 1. Speaking on the 2026 regulations, Verstappen reckoned that the entire year was bound to be crucial for him and the team. However, with a highly capable crew in Red Bull, the four-time champion was at ease and confident that it would all work out in the end.

When pushed for an answer to what it will take for him to stop racing in Formula 1, Max Verstappen had a blunt answer. He explained that if he did not like the regulations and the racing it produced, he might stop racing even before his contract expired in 2029. Still, Verstappen accepted that everything needed to be completely negative for him to push towards a complete exit from the pinnacle of motorsport.

A crucial year? Yes, actually, I do think that of all the people around me, I am the most relaxed about it. I’ll manage. It will work out in the end. Whether there’s a chance I’ll stop completely, even before 2029, if I don’t like the rules? Well, then it must all turn out very negatively.

Max Verstappen reveals ‘goal’ in Formula 1 concerning Red Bull

Certainly, any team on the current F1 grid would be more than welcoming to Max Verstappen in the squad if he decides to leave Red Bull. The four-time champion was in advanced talks to join Mercedes, which fizzled out in the end. As such, Verstappen reassured that his goal in Formula 1 was to remain loyal to the Red Bull project and even end his career with the same team.

Max Verstappen recalled that he always expressed ending his career with Red Bull as his only goal. It was very important to him as he got along very well with everyone in the squad. However, Verstappen acknowledged that many things needed to coincide for him to continue racing with Milton Keynes in Formula 1. The 28-year-old disliked the fact that he had to cut short his time with family and be present for motorsport duties. The four-time champion believes that it is all part of the job despite being so hectic in the end.

That is the goal, I have always expressed that, I get along very well with everyone at Red Bull. That is very important to me. I’ve also always indicated that many things have to coincide, and I’m not just talking about Formula 1, Now, of course, I would have preferred to still be at home. I flew straight from Portimão, where I tested my race team’s Mercedes GT3, to Detroit, It’s all a bit hectic, but it’s part of the job.

The 2026 season is also right around the corner, and Max Verstappen anticipates a tough year of learning. Red Bull will also collaborate with Ford for the power units, which might prove to be a massive challenge. Regardless, Verstappen has proved that he can perform well despite all odds and keep up with impressive results.
