Max Verstappen has been dominating the scene in F1. The Dutchman claimed his seventh win of the season at the Spanish GP and was in a class of his own. On the other hand, his father, Jos Verstappen, revived his racing career and began rallying in 2022. However, the 52-year-old had a huge crash in the Ypres Rally in Belgium, ruling him out of contention.
Jos Verstappen was a former F1 driver and had decent success in his time in the open-wheel series. However, his motto changed soon, as he focused entirely on training Max Verstappen to be an F1 driver, which he succeeded in achieving. His stringent training could be credited for the 26-year-old’s three world championships.
Witnessing his child’s success, the 52-year-old ventured to revive his racing career and began racing in WRC. However, his outing in Belgium did not last long.
Jos Verstappen suffered a puncture in the early stages of the race, losing heaps of time to his rivals. To further rub salt in his wounds, when he got back on track, he collided with a tree, ending his weekend at a short notice.
A grid penalty is inevitable for Max Verstappen
Despite dominating the scene in F1, reliability has always been a cause for concern at the pinnacle of motorsport. This has now come to bite the championship leader, as Red Bull supremo Christian Horner revealed.

The Brit explained that a grid penalty for using an extra engine is now unavoidable for the reigning champion.
We've got to see how it plays out. But I think it's inevitable that he’ll[Max Verstappen] take an extra engine.Christian Horner said post Spanish GP
The Dutchman recently observed the loss of an ICE, which has made the team cautious about reliability concerns. Moreover, amid McLaren‘s sudden rise, things might get difficult day by day.
Thus, reliability appears to be the dagger that could hamper Red Bull’s momentum. So engineers at Milton Keynes would have been tasked to take a closer look at the engine’s reliability and aid the Dutchman in extending his lead in the championship.
