Reigning F1 champion Max Verstappen’s girlfriend, Kelly Piquet, has expressed her support for Palestinians in Gaza amid the ongoing conflict. The situation in Gaza has deteriorated significantly, with the conflict beginning in 2023 and resulting in approximately 41,000 deaths to date.
Israeli attacks have devastated the territory, destroying essential facilities, including hospitals, making child birth increasingly difficult. Piquet highlighted this crisis by sharing a post on her Instagram stories, to the attention of her 1.5 million followers.
According to the report the situation in Gaza has worsened for pregnant women, who face harrowing realities while relying on makeshift medical tents. These tents are equipped only with kitchen scissors for childbirth procedures. With hospitals and medical centers bombed, many lack access to essential care, pain medication, clean water, and electricity.
Marie Claire, the French International monthly magazine, went into the dangerous Gaza strip to get a precise understanding of the hardships of pregnant women in the area. Kelly Piquet has shown her support by sharing the story on her social media, where she is followed by millions.
With hundreds of healthcare workers killed during the bombings and many fleeing the region, the delivery process has become increasingly difficult for mothers and their babies. Currently, 155,000 pregnant and breastfeeding women in Gaza desperately need maternity care.
