McLaren is one of the top teams in terms of performance in Formula 1 currently. The Woking-based team is on top of the constructors’ championship this season, with a lead of 40 points on second-placed Red Bull.
The Papayas have since been accused by Red Bull of using an illegal rear wing in their MCL38. The Milton Keynes-based team has claimed that McLaren had used the advantage of a mini-DRS system in its cars. Nevertheless, all accusations have been deemed rubbish by team principal Andrea Stella.
Andrea Stella has classified these rumors as a psychological attack on McLaren. He said that these accusations have strengthened the team’s spirit even more.
McLaren struggled to perform at the United States Grand Prix due to the low-speed corners of the track. It will now seek to revisit and resolve its issues ahead of an important race in Mexico this weekend.
McLaren reiterates approach in maintaining balance between Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri
Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri have been the prime reason for McLaren’s resurgence this season. They have had their fair share of controversies as well, which has pushed the Papayas to deploy team orders on some occasions.
Andrea Stella has clarified that he wants the team to be united. He also claimed to give equal preference to both Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri to nurture them in the long run.
The last few races of the season will require the drivers to perform selflessly for McLaren to secure the title. The team will face threats from Red Bull and an in-form Ferrari and will have to remain confident and overcome all ordeals.
