Oscar Piastri kick-started his F1 career after scoring a great end to his rookie season in the sport. The Aussie driver has also maintained a streak of great results in the 2024 season with a 100% lap completion.
Hence, a win was close for the Australian driver in the pinnacle of motorsport. Piastri scored the highly coveted Hungarian GP race victory in his 18th month in F1 and received praise from his entire team.
McLaren’s great upturn in performance mid-way through the ongoing campaign has enabled the drivers to score impressive results. Oscar Piastri kept calm towards the end when Lando Norris wouldn’t let the former pass. Hence, team principal Andrea Stella noted that the victory came extremely early for the driver and how he quickly learned to drive the chassis in different conditions.
For Oscar, that win is very early after 18 months, and Oscar is learning so rapidly. Last year in terms of single lap pace he learnt quickly, he needed to learn how to use the tyres in hot conditions, and this year he's picking things up so rapidly.Andrea Stella said during the post-race interview.
Additionally, Piastri didn’t get angry when Norris wasn’t letting him through for the race victory. The 23-year-old believed in his teammate to decide in the best interest of McLaren. Hence, Stella pointed out that the Aussie was mentally strong and also the wisest member of the team.
He's so strong in those, and so strong mentally. He's the youngest and the wisest member of our team.Andrea Stella added.

Oscar Piastri jokingly held the Hungarian GP victory trophy when Lando Norris splashed the champagne
The entire McLaren crew was extremely pleased after scoring the Hungarian GP victory and a one-two finish. Hence, Norris had to showcase his special technique of popping champagne while on the podium. However, during Norris’ previous celebration in Hungary, he broke Max Verstappen‘s P1 trophy.
As a result, Oscar Piastri recalled the incident and hilariously held onto the trophy while Norris popped the champagne. Hence, it is safe to assume that the two drivers are not on bad terms due to the controversy on the track. The team will continue to showcase great results during the remainder of the 2024 season.
