F2 driver Gabriel Bortoleto has delivered a damning verdict on Red Bull’s Sergio Perez’s future with the Austrian team. Perez has been on a poor run of form for the Milton-Keynes outfit for quite some time.
Sergio Perez joined Red Bull in 2021, following which he put on some stellar performances, helping his team to the first of three consecutive title triumphs. But his form has been inconsistent this season, as he secured four podiums in the first five races while only amassing 24 points in the last seven.
Keeping Perez’s woes into view, McLaren junior driver Gabriel Bortoleto has claimed that the 34-year-old might not have a seat next campaign. He also indicated that Perez’s imminent sacking might not be subjective to his contract in the future.
I think Perez will be out next year. I don’t know if he has a contract but, with the results he’s having, he’s out.Gabriel Bortoleto via Brazilian Motorsport
Perez has since been offered a chance by Red Bull to prove his worth until the end of this campaign. He will now take desperate measures to win races and chart fruitful results after the ongoing summer break.
Max Verstappen bows down to 100-year-old legacy of F1 rivals
Red Bull driver Max Verstappen has shown respect to Mercedes and Ferrari with the coming of new regulations. The Milton-Keynes outfit is set to partner with Ford as an engine manufacturer in 2026.
I have a lot of confidence in it, but as I said: We have to be realistic. We are competing against people who have been building engines for over a hundred years.Max Verstappen said to formula.hu
Max Verstappen has vested full faith in Red Bull to manufacture competitive power units in 2026. Verstappen has, however, also called for realistic expectations against the experienced likes of Mercedes and Ferrari.
The 2026 regulations by the FIA have demanded major changes in the power unit compositions. The teams have therefore put their heads down to work on a sustainable yet competitive design for their cars in the future. A successful attempt to dominate the new guidelines will change the fortunes of a squad from 2026 onward.
