McLaren’s dominant performance in the 2024 season has enabled the team to breeze through the struggling Red Bull in the championship standings. Woking has already gained a considerable lead. However, the team must stay cautious with the upgrades as they wouldn’t want to follow up to be the next struggling team on the grid.
McLaren had continued to implement upgrades on the MCL-38 which enabled it to be the fastest on the grid. Regardless, team principal Andrea Stella reckoned that some upgrades were planned for the chassis for the remainder of the season. However, the team needed to approach these issues from a cautious point of view to not repeat a Red Bull situation.
Stella was still ready to put his faith in the process and not get frightened by the upgrade process of the chassis. Stella claimed that the team needed to ‘trust’ the way they were working so far in the season. As a result, Woking is unlikely to showcase a performance slump this year.
McLaren would need to stay ‘agressive’ in developing the MCL38
McLaren would have to continue to upgrade the chassis despite the dominant performance on the track. After an extremely positive outing in Singapore, Andrea Stella termed it ‘flattering.’ However, the team principal accepted that Woking needed to keep being aggressive in terms of development.
The 2024 season has put forth some of the most exciting contingencies for multiple constructors on the grid. The end-of-the-season battle looks promising in terms of racing action for the championship victory. As things currently are, McLaren is likely to take home the WCC after almost 26 years of failed attempts.
