The Brackley-based Mercedes is one of the biggest outfits at the pinnacle of motor racing. While the outfit has experienced major success in F1, it has also been one of the favorites for sponsors because of its huge fan base.

The Toto Wolff-led team is celebrating its 50-year partnership with its title partner PETRONAS (which has a market cap of 688.8 Billion) at this week’s Singapore GP. Thus in light of this, the W15 will support a special one-off color scheme for the marquee event.

From the pictures revealed via Mercedes’ X handle, it appears that the W15 will predominantly have the PETRONAS blue on the front end of the challenger. Moreover, the blue color will also feature on the side pods.

From the images, the challenger looks extremely aesthetic, and keeping in view that the Singapore event is a night race, the W15 will surely stand out among the other challengers. Wolff has also spoken about the 50-year partnership with the Malaysian Oil and Gas Company.

Our partnership with PETRONAS is our longest standing and still going strong, and for any company to reach its 50th anniversary is an incredible milestone. This livery is therefore not only a celebration of their 50th anniversary but a reflection of PETRONAS’ importance in our team’s story and honours our journey together.

Mercedes’s take on the ‘incredibly demanding’ Singapore GP

While the Mercedes W15 will sport an extremely aesthetic look at the three-day event around Marina Bay, Toto Wolff is well aware of the challenges at the event. Historically, the Singapore GP has proven to be an extremely demanding event in terms of a driver’s physical fitness.

The track temperatures are very high during the race and the conditions are quite humid as well for the 20 drivers.

Physically, it is incredibly demanding on both the drivers and team members. The heat and humidity play a big role in that but so does the track itself. It is bumpy in places, contains a mixture of both low and high speed corners, and the walls are waiting to catch you out.

The 2024 F1 season has seven races remaining on the calendar. Mercedes has so far managed to amass 309 points in the Constructors Championship and is eyeing at least a top-three finish.

However, keeping in view the form of Ferrari and McLaren, it will not be easy for Wolff and Co. to topple any of them. Moreover, there is also the ever-looming threat of Red Bull, once they get their act right with the RB20, they will also be seen regularly competing for victories until the end of the season.
