Mercedes Technical Director, James Allison has shared his observations on the development of upgrades in the W15 over the course of the 2024 season. The Silver Arrows are set to bring in a set of new upgrades to the race in Barcelona in two weeks.
The team is currently the fourth fastest on the grid and has been behind the likes of Ferrari, McLaren, and Red Bull. However, during the Canadian GP, the German team showed promising signs in terms of pace and downforce around the high-speed circuit of Montreal under tricky conditions.

James Allison went on to say that even though Mercedes had a good pace in Montreal, it won’t be the same in the case of Barcelona. Allison further elaborated that the silver arrows will be competitive, but may not necessarily be at the front.
Our challenge is just to keep those upgrades arriving at a pace that the others cannot keep up with. In doing that, just bullying our car to the front by virtue of the effort made by everybody here over the coming weeks and months to get the car so that it can have its Montreal weekend or better at any track that we face in the future.James Allison said via Formu1a.uno
Allison asserted that the team’s challenge would be to consistently bring upgrades to their car in a much shorter period in order to be ahead of others in terms of development. In this way, Mercedes can hope to find quicker ground around the different tracks before their competitors do so.
Toto Wolff reveals strong aspects of the W15 post-Canadian GP

We have brought so many new parts that have contributed milliseconds to more performance. That was a huge effort from the factory. I think the wheel has started to get some real motion now. Hopefully the next few races when there is a track you can overtake, it will be exciting.Toto Wolff via gpfans
Toto Wolff revealed that Mercedes has brought in new parts that have contributed little by little to the race pace of the W15. Wolff also revealed that the German team is keen on racing on tracks that offer more of an overtaking opportunity as it enables the W15 to perform better, as was the case during last week’s Montreal event.
Mercedes will now look to work upon their increments in performance as they aim to match the pace of McLaren and Ferrari, who still appear to be ahead by a few seconds. The race in Montreal showed that with the proper preparation and conditions, Mercedes could be the team to beat yet again in F1.
