Michael Schumacher is regarded by many as the best driver in the history of Formula 1. However, the seven-time world champion’s son, Mick Schumacher has failed to replicate his success. Now, the stars might align for the 25-year-old once again.

Mick Schumacher made his F1 debut in 2021 with Haas. Over two seasons, the German showed glimpses of brilliance. Unfortunately, Schumacher’s constant incidents turned things sour within the American team and he was sacked after the 2022 season.

Since then, the 24-year-old has spent time on the sidelines as no F1 team seemed to be interested in hiring the German driver. However, Audi’s interest in Mick Schumacher has increased once again for a 2025 seat.

Mick Schumacher could be a good fit for Audi

Audi is in process of taking over the Sauber F1 team. The German carmaker has high ambitions in F1 and has already signed Nico Hulkenberg for 2025. However, the team has failed to confirm its second driver. Valtteri Bottas‘ discussions have reportedly failed due to contractual differences. The Swiss-based squad was previously interested in Carlos Sainz.

This has put Mick Schumacher as best available option for Audi. The 24-year-old’s nationality and his father’s name would do wonders for the team’s marketing efforts. Although, on-track doubts remain over Schumacher’s performance, it is believed that the German driver could thrive under the right environment. Something that was missing at Haas.

The former Haas driver has competed in the World Endurance Championship this year with Alpine and showed impressive pace. Audi might be willing to place a bet on the young talent based on his Hypercar stint at least for 2025. If Mick Schumacher does perform well for the German carmaker, this bet would pay dividends for the long-term.

Certainly, Schumacher is desperate to find a place on the F1 grid. The Audi works team would be a great long-term option for the 24-year-old compared to any other lower midfield squad. Fans do hope that Mick Schumacher signs a contract with the carmaker within the next few weeks.
