Lewis Hamilton‘s involvement in activities outside of Formula 1 varies greatly, from associating with international celebrities at fashion shows to vacations involving adrenaline-filled activities. Hamilton is an icon worldwide, known for his cultural impact.

The Briton has a close friendship through one of these activities with 11-time surfing World Champion Kelly Slater. Slater has ties with Hamilton tracing many years ago, and revealed recent plans with the Mercedes driver to work on an electric racing track for cars.

Lewis Hamilton has statistically the most successful career of all time in Formula 1, with 103 wins to his name and seven championships. The knighted Briton may not have won a race in the last two years, but retains his motivation and drive to keep racing.

Hamilton’s close friend and champion surfer Kelly Slater appreciated the efforts Hamilton has put into his career. Slater talked about the reason behind the Briton’s success: his intelligence in managing his career and knowledge of how to sustain the pace of his life concurrently with his racing career.

I think one of the reasons Lewis has been so successful is because he’s very intelligent, and he’s intelligent enough to know how to pace his life and his career, and how to sustain his motivation and his drive – and he’s done that very well.

Hamilton has a contract extension with Mercedes to drive into his early 40s, making him the second driver on the grid to do so alongside Fernando Alonso. Hamilton will hope to finally win a race after two winless campaigns in 2024, his 17th year of F1.
