“15 laps until he is in the lead,” Pierre Gasly gives his verdict on Max Verstappen’s chances during the Singapore GP
Pierre and Max
Pierre Gasly, who had a fine qualifying outing for the AlphaTauri F1 team, has talked about his exploits on the Marina Bay Circuit and has further delved into the chances of the prolific Max Verstappen who is starting tomorrow’s race from P8 on the grid.
Pierre Gasly has had a pretty up-and-down 2022 F1 season and, has struggled with getting to grips with the AT03. However, the Singapore qualifying brought some good fortune for the Frenchman and after ending his exploits in P7, he is pleased with his performance.
Moreover, while talking about the same Galsy added, “It was really cool, not easy in the car but I am really happy with this qualifying, yesterday the track was dry and we struggled. The weather definitely played into our hands. The conditions kept changing and we had to adapt to that, but it worked out well.”
The 26-year-old believes that the constantly changing track conditions played in AlphaTauri’s favor during quali and further thinks that the team was able to adapt well as per the conditions.
Pierre Gasly’s take on Max Verstappen starting behind him during the upcoming Singapore GP
Pierre Gasly, after the end of qualifying, has found himself in a very good position to start the race, however, he has got the 2021 F1 World Champion, Max Verstappen on the fourth row beside him.
Max Verstappen earlier in the season has proved that he is quite capable of winning races from unfavorable positions, and Gasly while talking about the Dutchman’s chances during the upcoming race said, “Maybe it’s slightly more difficult [to overtake] on this track, so maybe 15 laps until he is in the lead.”
The 26-year-old has blatantly admitted that given the kind of form that Max is in this year, it is not going to take him too long to go past him and the rest of the cars that are staring ahead of him.
The Marina Bay Circuit historically has proven to be a tough place to overtake, but despite this fact, Gasly has backed Verstappen and believes that he would be able to come away with maximum points from Singapore.
