2009 F1 Champion Jenson Button wants to exit career in commentary to return to full-time racing
Former F1 Champion Jenson Button expressed he might come out of retirement to resume full-time racing in 2024.

Jenson Button, a former F1 world champion, explained that he feels ready to get back to full-time racing soon.The British athlete has been experimenting with other leagues of motorsports ever since he left Formula One in 2016. While he had walked away from the king class of racing in the same year as Nico Rosberg, he returned to take Fernando Alonso‘s seat at the 2017 Monaco Grand Prix in the Spaniard’s absence. He has since competed in NASCAR, and World Endurance Championship as well.
Besides keeping at his racing career, the former Brawn GP racer is frequently spotted in his role as a broadcaster and commentator for Sky Sports. In January 2021, Jenson Button also accepted a role as an advisor for the Williams F1 Racing team. Now, he has contested in his first few NASCAR races and found the experience quite fulfilling. Thus, while speaking with Autosport, Jenson Button said, “I didn’t think that I’d want to do a full season again because of how busy the schedule always is, but I feel that I’ll be racing in something next year doing the full season.”
Jenson Button left Formula 1 in 2016, and then he went for other leagues. But in 2019, he hung up his boots and retired from full-time racing completely after the end of his Super GT season. But, according to his most recent interview, the Briton is ready to get into the game once again as he teased an entry into full-time racing in the near future.

Everyone remembers how the double diffuser and clever engineering of Ross Brawn’s Brawn GP made Jenson Button win a fairytale Championship in the year 2009. After renaming the team from Honda Racing to Brawn GP, in their debut season itself, they won the World Championship with Jenson Button. Later, he went to McLaren, but he never found the same success with the papaya squad.
Jenson Button said he has loved his irregular racing endeavors but is now prepared to broaden his horizons in 2024. The Formula 1 community will surely miss the voice of Jenson in the race forums once he gets back to racing on the regular, but they will also be eagerly waiting for a glimpse of the Briton behind the steering wheels of a race car as a full-time driver once again.
