Lando Norris is running an updated livery at the Singapore Grand Prix, and McLaren’s Executive Racing Director, Andrea Stella has thanked the team’s factory crew for their relentless work in making it possible.
Andrea Stella is well aware of the task at hand this season and sees the new parts as a potential boost that could help the team in getting the better of their 2022 rivals, the Alpine F1 team.
Moreover, while talking about the new parts that have been brought to Singapore by McLaren, Stella said, “It’s been good to introduce the new parts on Lando’s side, we’ve collected a lot of data that will help us optimize this new package.”
“A big thanks to the team back at the factory for enabling us to deliver this package this weekend.“
The McLaren man has revealed that the team has gathered valuable data from Lando’s outing during the Friday practice sessions and is confident that the papaya-colored team would be further able to improve the car.
Andrea Stella: McLaren has got some work to do from a performance point of view
Lando Norris, despite having the updated parts on his livery, was not able to go extremely quickly during the FP1 and FP2 sessions of the Singapore Grand Prix and was only able to manage a P19 and P11 finish during the two sessions.
From the looks of the session, it seemed that the papaya-colored team was focusing more on gathering data rather than doing quali runs, however, even when Lando put the soft tires on, he was not able to go significantly faster and ended up behind the Alpine duo.
Moreover, Stella while further adding on Lando’s outing said, “We have some work to do from a performance point of view, and overnight we’ll be analyzing all of the information we gathered on track today, to get us into as good a place as possible for qualifying tomorrow and Sunday’s Singapore Grand Prix.“
Andrea Stella has admitted that McLaren has got quite a bit of work to do ahead of qualifying, and considering the points deficit to Alpine in the Constructors Championship, it is going to be absolutely crucial for them to sort their issues out so that Lando would have a package on the back of which he would be able to challenge Ocon and Alonso during qualifying.
