Global Media couldn’t really hide their praises for Max Verstappen’s performance in Spa. Max impressed everyone with his performance in the first half of the season, but he just dropped the jaw with his performance later on. Even the newspaper with early critics for Max Verstappen is now turning in the praise box for the half-Belgian driver.

Italy’s biggest sports newspaper, Gazzetta Dello Sport said, “They are right that he is a driver from another planet. Given his pace, he would even have won from the last starting position.”

Spanish media, Marca said, “They drive in a different league, know how to improve the car every race and don’t make any procedural or strategic mistakes,”

L’Equipe, a French newspaper, are always a bit critical of Max but they didn’t hide the praises this time, “The reigning world champion showed once again that he is not afraid of a reversed grid. At the end of July Verstappen won in Hungary from tenth on the grid and a month later he repeated this trick,” they said.

United Kingdom’s newspaper, The Sun said, “If there was a dark cloud hanging over his maiden F1 world title – won at the controversial Abu Dhabi GP last December – there is simply nothing but brilliance about his performances this season.”

German media, the Blid, compared Max to the greatest of all time, Michael Schumacher for his similar performance in Spa.” Verstappen needed very little time for his mad pursuit à la Michael Schumacher at Spa in 1995. At the Belgian Grand Prix, the Dutchman had to start from 14th on the grid and drove easily to victory. Schumi had once won here in the rain from sixteenth on the grid and crowned himself ‘rain god’. Verstappen is now (almost) managing to do the same,” they said.

Max Verstappen is now in the lead of the championship with 96 points to Sergio Perez in the second. Red Bull is ahead of Ferrari with 118 points to spear. The Austrian team could now more or less wear the crown as a winner for the 2022 season.
