Carlos Sainz started the Grand Prix from P7 on the grid after taking a 5-place grid penalty, but despite that, has managed to do a stupendous job and got a well-deserved podium to his name.

After the race, while dwelling on his outing, Sainz added, “I think overall it was a good race. We did have some problems there at the start with the brakes on fire, so we had to stop early and we had to commit to a three-stop. Maybe today that wasn’t the fastest given the deg but from there I pushed to close on Checo.”

We had a good run on Checo at the end. A good podium after starting P7. It’s shame that Merc’s are so quick but congratulations to George!”

We are a bit on the defense mode because Merc was untouchable today. They were quicker than the Red Bull and quicker than us. I think it’s been a few weekends like that. I think in Abu Dhabi we can expect them to win and do damage limitation and go for the win also.”

The Sao Paulo Grand Prix was probably one of the most exciting races of the 2022 F1 season where a plethora of overtakes was done all over the grid.

Moreover, Carlos Sainz also had a fantastic race for the Ferrari F1 team and was able to keep his F1-75 in the running for the podium for the most part of the race.

While Sainz did all he could in order to stay within the reach of the podium places, things really fell into place for him when Lando Norris’s car came to halt during the closing stages of the race.

Carlos Sainz has had a lot of misfortune throughout the current campaign and considering the number of DNFs he has amassed so far in the season, the P3 at Interlagos was a deserved outing for him.
