“A real craftsman,” Joylon Palmer appreciates former teammate Nico Hulkenberg ahead of Haas’ 2023 announcement
Nico Hulkenberg
Nico Hulkenberg is tipped to be the new driver for the Haas F1 Team for 2023 and ahead of the team’s expected announcement, former F1 driver, Jolyon Palmer has come forward and praised the German.
Nico Hulkenberg and Mick Schumacher are the two names that are in the running for next year’s seat at Haas, but the hype around the latter’s name has died down in recent days, and it is believed that Haas has decided on Hulkenberg to be their driver.
While nothing official has come out of the Haas garage, the choice must not have been an easy one for Guenther Steiner as Mick has got age on his side. However, despite that, the 23-year-old has proved to be extremely volatile in his driving style during the current campaign and has cost the team a fortune with his crashes.
Nico Hulkenberg, on the other hand, has always been a reliable driver, and his track record in the sport speaks for itself. Moreover, he was also seen in the AMR22 this year, when Sebastian Vettel was not able to participate because of Covid.
Jolyon Palmer feels Nico Hulkenberg is a good choice for Haas
If Nico Hulkenberg certainly is the name that Haas has decided on for the 2023 season of the sport, his former teammate, Jolyon Palmer feels it is a great choice.
Jolyon Palmer was Hulkenberg’s teammate in 2017 and has first-hand experience of working with him, while stressing about the 35-year-old, he recently added, “Then I saw how Nico works. He is not only hugely talented but also a hard worker. He was super fast and sat endlessly with the mechanics. When I saw him, I thought, ‘That’s a real craftsman!’ I had never experienced that before.”
Palmer has appreciated Nico Hulkenberg ahead of his expected full return to F1, as in his opinion, the German has got everything in his arsenal to do what he has done previously, and is also a perfectionist which will bode well for Haas.
However, Hulkenberg will have the prolific Kevin Magnussen as his partner for next year, and considering how well the Dane has performed in the ongoing campaign, would Nico Hulkenberg be able to match or surpass him next season?
