The start of the 2024 season has been overshadowed by the shenanigans going on at Red Bull. All the drama and power struggles within the team have caused multiple members of the team to lose faith. Now, the boat has reached Adrian Newey, who is reported to have established talks with Ferrari in order to move to Maranello.
Over the past month, speculations have been looming around the paddock of Adrian Newey pondering to leave the Austrian outfit amid the ongoing drama. On the other hand, Ferrari recently signed the seven-time champion, Lewis Hamilton, who was anticipated to lure in more members from various teams.
All the stars have currently lined up in Ferrari’s favor. The Italian team could really snatch the legendary British designer from the clutches of their arch-rivals, Red Bull.
Due to the frenzy going on over at the Austrian giant, the team is in a tough position to decide whether to keep its F1 team CEO/principal, Christian Horner, who is suspected to have the support of the Thai stakeholders. However, the Austrian stakeholders have been criticizing this decision behind closed doors. This could shake up the team internally if the matter is not resolved and the ramifications could be monumental as the team could lose their 65-year-old magical designer.
Helmut Marko assures the loyalty of Adrian Newey with Red Bull
With the rumors of Newey spooling around the paddock, Helmut Marko was taken aback by such information. The 80-year-old had built the team from the ground up with Horner and Newey in the early 2000s.
The consultant despite the rumors, has full faith in Adrian Newey to continue at Red Bull.
[Adrian]Newey in Ferrari? I hope not as continuing to be constantly committed to improving and continuing our path of success should guarantee a sufficiently reassuring environment.Helmut Marko said in an interview with Motorsport-total
Helmut Marko seemed to be in disbelief considering the success that the partnership has garnered over the years. Moreover, the Austrian reckons that Red Bulls’ prior success would be enough for Newey to stay with the team.
Despite these claims, the possibility of the legendary British designer leaving the team seems real. However, Red Bull would do everything in its power to stop the Englishman from leaving the team anytime soon.
