Red Bull had a groundbreaking season in 2023, as they wrapped up both titles in extremely dominant fashion in a title charge headed by Max Verstappen. The Dutchman won 19 of 22 races in the year in the dominant RB19.
Chief Technical Officer of Red Bull Adrian Newey commended Verstappen’s feedback to the team throughout the year, albeit dubbing the 26-year-old ‘demanding’. Newey said that Verstappen knows what he wants, with his race engineer Gianpiero Lambiase to assist him.
He’s demanding, of course, absolutely. But his feedback is good – it’s not over complicated. He knows how to express what he wants out of the car.Adrian Newey said, via Motorsports.com.
Verstappen is confident in Red Bull for 2024 as well, as the Milton Keyes-based outfit plans to achieve further dominance with the RB20. Red Bull may aim for the first-ever clean sweep in F1 in case they do manage to extend the gap to their rivals.
Adrian Newey reveals major changes in RB19 for 2023
The Red Bull RB19 is considered a masterpiece when it comes to F1 car development, as it achieved indomitable results throughout the year in a fashion that has never been seen before. The mastermind behind the vehicle is the British engineer and aerodynamicist Adrian Newey.
Newey revealed the changes made to the RB19 for 2023, stressing the importance of the front wing. With more demand on the front wing itself, the aggressive approach helps in dealing with the rising downforce in F1 cars, as management of the front of the car becomes paramount.
As the cars have become better understood, the downforce has gone up and quite often that means a bigger front-wing demand. So then you have to put a bit more effort into managing how you use the front wing.
Adrian Newey has designed cars that have won a combined total of a whopping 25 world championships, out of which 12 came from his time with Red Bull. Now, the Briton is exploring some other ventures as he plans to design the RB17 hypercar for Red Bull.
