Red Bull unveiled their 2024 challenger on Thursday and presented the benchmark the rivals would have to beat. However, the team’s chief designer Adrian Newey didn’t seem convinced that the Austrian team would be taking the championship home again.
The Austrian manufacturer was recently in the news for the alleged allegations against their F1 team supremo Christian Horner. However, yesterday’s launch was entirely focused on finding out what Red Bull developed during the winter break. The legendary British designer was not confident about the design even after bringing monumental changes to the RB-20.
We need to keep pushing. We've made improvements in all areas on the 2024 car. Is that enough? Who knows, we'll have to see.Adrian Newey on the RB20 (H&T: formulapassion.it)
The car was referred to as being “scary” by other rivals who had turned towards RB-19’s aerodynamic concept and were left in awe to find out the changes the team had brought onto the car. The Englishman though not entirely happy with his creation, would be in a comfortable position compared to others due to a developmental lead from the last season. The RB-20 was spotted in a shakedown run at Silverstone, with the reigning champion of Max Verstappen behind the wheel.
What did Max Verstappen think of the new car?
Max Verstappen and Sergio Pérez had unveiled the RB-20 at Milton Keynes yesterday. The drivers must have been shocked by a drastic change in the design concept from its predecessor. The Dutchman had given his views on the same during the launch.
The 26-year-old described the new car as bold and aggressive during the launch and was stunned by the new design. The three-time champion had revealed that during the Abu Dhabi GP weekend, he had seen the sketch of the RB-20 and was not anticipating such a big change.
On the other hand, as the season approaches and the teams prepare themselves for a new fight, Verstappen aims high again. He is preparing himself for another record-breaking season and on a hunt to claim the all-elusive perfect season.
