Red Bull’s triumph at the 2023 Hungarian Grand Prix has proved extra special for the Austrian team. Not only did Max Verstappen win the race, but along with his triumph, the Adrian Newey-guided team broke McLaren’s long-standing record of most consecutive wins at the pinnacle of motor racing.

The Woking-based McLaren F1 team made its record of winning 11 consecutive races in the year 1988, and since then, it has been standing pretty at the top. However, with Red Bull securing the win at the Hungaroring, the team has smashed that record by winning 12 consecutive races in the sport.

Adrian Newey is on cloud 9 with Red Bull’s most recent achievement, and while talking about it, he added, “I could never have dreamt of this. To beat that McLaren record from 1988 is something I guess I certainly never thought we would do. So it’s a tribute to the whole team, to the hard work of all the guys, the reliability we’ve enjoyed so far this season. It’s just a fantastic tribute.”

Looking at the comments of Red Bull’s mastermind, it is quite evident that he did not, even in his wildest imagination, think that breaking McLaren’s record was possible for them. Moreover, Newey has shown a lot of gratitude toward the Red Bull crew for their tireless efforts in making 12 consecutive race victories a reality.

While Adrian Newey has given a lot of credit for Red Bull’s success to its crew, a lot of credit for it also goes to him for coming up with an absolute beast of machinery for the ongoing F1 campaign. Without the might of Red Bull’s RB19, it would have been difficult for Verstappen and Co. to break McLaren’s record.

The 64-year-old has been with the Christian Horner-led team since the 2006 season of F1, and has, over the years, played an immensely crucial role in the success that team has amassed so far. Along with Max Verstappen, he is also one of the most prized possession that Red Bull has got in its garage.

Red Bull has scored race victories in all the events that have taken place so far in the 2023 season, and with the Belgian Grand Prix next up on the F1 calendar, the team is again the favorite to win and continue its dominating run. The outfit has shown lethal form so far, and much of the same would be expected again by its fans in Spa.
