Adrian Newey is considered to be one of the smartest minds in the history of Formula 1. The Briton has built some of the best designs at the pinnacle of motorsport for the past few decades, including Red Bull’s championship-winning machinery. However, Red Bull team boss Christian Horner reckoned that Milton Keynes would still be successful without the 65-year-old. Now, Amanda Newey has rubbished these claims.
Christian Horner had recently claimed that Red Bull has evolved to become less dependent on the aero genius. Hinting that the Austrian team could achieve success without having Newey. However, Amanda Newey had a clear message to such comments. She replied to a post on X covering Horner’s quotes which caused a stir on social media.

This was a direct dig at the Red Bull Team Principal. Mrs. Newey made it clear that according to her, Red Bull still needs the expertise of the 65-year-old. Adrian Newey’s work has played an integral role in the Austrian team’s success since he joined Milton Keynes in 2006. Perhaps, Christian Horner would need to talk to the Newey family soon.

Is Adrian Newey really replaceable for Red Bull?
Soon after Christian Horner’s claims, Red Bull’s Technical Director Pierre Wache affirmed that Newey was irreplaceable. The 65-year-old might have shifted from day-to-day work on the car but still had a major impact on Milton Keynes. Moreover, the aero genius provided much-needed guidance whenever the team faced challenges related to car development.

Adrian Newey has undoubtedly played a significant role in the historic Red Bull RB-19. The Briton has gained the reputation of a generational talent and has previously received massive contract offers from Ferrari and Mercedes. Recently, Haas team boss Gunther Steiner claimed that he would rather sign Newey than Max Verstappen for his team.
Certainly, Newey will remain as one of the most important minds in the F1 paddock. Despite Christian Horner’s comments, it is clear that Red Bull would inevitably rely on the 65-year-old in the coming years. Nevertheless, it remains to be seen if tensions rise between Newey and Milton Keynes because of claims in the coming weeks.
