Max Verstappen has finally clinched his third F1 world title. The Dutch driver is in the prime of his career as he won his third consecutive championship by a massive lead. The 26-year-old is considered to be racing in a league of his own this year. Former world champion Alain Prost explained the reason for Verstappen’s stellar performances.
The Frenchman acknowledged that winning three straight champions was a massive feat for Max Verstappen. This achievement puts him with the greatest in the sport’s history. Alain Prost believed that the reason for the Dutchman’s genius was that Verstappen never makes mistakes and keeps aiming for even more success.
Prost told La Chronqiue, “I think that what makes Max Verstappen so great and so strong is his ability to be a great driver that he has been able to develop in order never to stumble and always to want more.”
The former world champion admitted that the 26-year-old had established himself as a talented driver. Moreover, Prost praised Verstappen’s ability to build the tea around him and get the most out of the car. Alain Prost stated, “There is no doubt that he has succeeded in becoming a great driver. But what, in my opinion, makes him even stronger is the way in which he has learned to be one with his car and his team.”

Max Verstappen’s dominance continues in 2023
The Dutch driver has had one of the most dominant seasons in F1 history so far in 2023. Verstappen has won a staggering 14 races this year with five rounds to spare. The three-time world champion could beat his own record for the most wins in a single season. The 26-year-old has singlehandedly scored more points than any rival team on the grid.
As such, it was no surprise when Max Verstappen clinched his third title on Saturday during the Qatar GP F1 Sprint. The 26-year-old didn’t need to wait until the Sunday race and officially claimed the championship. Verstappen’s stellar drive was in stark contrast to teammate Sergio Perez who is second in the standings. Perez could only bring home his Red Bull in tenth place.
Certainly, Max Verstappen is having a dominant run in Formula 1. The Dutch driver is expected to carry this success into 2024 with Red Bull already being considered as the favorites for next season. As such, the three-time world champion would be looking to make another step up in his performance levels and truly annihilate the competition in the future.
