Alex Albon has one of the most impressive seasons of his career in 2023. He has consistently been a point contender in all the races so far and has established himself as the driver for Williams in the future. However, Albon has expressed that he won’t commit to his Formula 1 future with Williams before 2024 and said he is keeping his options open for upcoming seasons.

Albon joined Williams in 2022, replacing George Russell, who moved to Mercedes. In the 2023 season, he showcased his potential by acquiring 21 points in a midfield car. Albon has secured top-10 finishes in 7 races and has demonstrated impressive consistency with his FW45.

Albon’s performance has significantly contributed to Williams’ improvement, with the team holding 7th place in the Constructors’ Championship. He is impressed by the team’s progress and is confident about how much he can improve with the team before his contract ends in 2025. As he is in the prime of his career, he wants to fight for the podium and win as well.

“I think I have the confidence in myself to keep myself open. I think the rate of progress that we’re having here at Williams and seeing what’s happening behind the scenes is great. I’m fully committed to the team until my contract pretty much ends. But I am also 27. Although I’m not young, I’m also not old. And I do feel like I am in a good part of my career. If you take another year, I’m 28, then 29, going onto 30 soon,” he said, as reported by Motorsports.com.

Logan Sargeant’s 2023 Formula 1 season has been a mix of promise and setbacks, displaying significant potential and notable errors. However, Sargeant is yet to secure any points this season, while his teammate Alex Albon has accumulated a total of 21 points.

Despite Sargeants’ fluctuating performance, his seat for the next year remains unconfirmed. Williams Team Principal, James Vowles, acknowledged that Logan Sargeant will have to work to earn his seat in Formula One.

The comments I’ve given him is this: it’s a meritocracy, you’re not here just because we want you to be here, you have to earn your place, this is the pinnacle of motorsport. Alex is here for the long term, I can tell you that already. In terms of where Logan is, he is on the right path to developing, he has to just keep stepping it up race on race,” said James Vowles.
