AlphaTauri serves as a junior team to Red Bull. It is a platform for Red Bull’s young drivers to prove their worth before being promoted to the main team, with drivers like Max Verstappen having raced for AlphaTauri first before racing for Red Bull. AlphaTauri CEO Peter Bayer recently gave a major update on the two teams’ relations going into the 2024 campaign.
Bayer said that AlphaTauri is like a ‘younger brother’ to Red Bull, and they will maintain their status quo in 2024 as well. He said that AlphaTauri’s focus will be to secure young talent while working closely with Red Bull. He also said that they would try and exploit some of the regulations so the two teams could come closer on their technologies and human resources, something they are not practicing currently.
“It makes perfect sense to have the younger brother in the family looking after young rider development. It will stay that way, so the purpose remains that we find young talent. And at the same time it means that we find synergies, work closely with Red Bull Racing and exploit the technical regulations, which we are not currently doing,” Bayer is quoted by motorsport-total.com

AlphaTauri axed driver Nyck de Vries could potentially make an F1 return with Red Bull
Nyck de Vries was brutally sacked from AlphaTauri after the rookie emerged point-less from his first ten races in F1. His sudden firing came as an immense shock, with many drivers and teams coming to his support. However, the 28-year-old might make his comeback sooner than anyone might have expected.
Red Bull is currently looking for a reserve driver for the Mexican GP. While Liam Lawson is their first-choice reserve driver, his commitments to the Japan-based Super Formula won’t allow him to be present for the race, bringing up the speculations of De Vries being the replacement.
Although Red Bull sacked De Vries, he is still under contract with them for the remainder of the season. The contract becomes null and void only if he decides to sign with any other racing organization. De Vries is currently at Harvard studying Negotiation and Leadership but might have to leave Massachusetts for a while if his former bosses call upon him.
