Pierre Gasly joined Alpine at the start of the current 2022 season as Fernando Alonso bid adieu to the Enstone outfit to move to Aston Martin. The French driver recently commented on the recently-held Italian GP being the hardest for his new team. Pierre Gasly and his teammate Esteban Ocon both failed to score points in Monza. But Alpine have seen some better moments this year as well as Gasly has even grabbed a podium for them this season. Owing to this inconsistent performance, Gasly has expressed his hopes for his team to deliver a more consistent package next year.
Notwithstanding the results of the Monza Grand Prix, Pierre Gasly looks optimistic for the Singapore GP. At one of his recent interviews the Frenchman was asked which circuit he believes would favor Alpine, and he said, “I think we will have another update coming quite soon, so we’ll have to see, But I think Singapore could be one.”
High-downforce and cornering heavy tracks favour the Alpine over the ‘flowy’, low-downforce ones. But Pierre knows, a ‘rounded’ package is one that is more competitive across the different circuits on the F1 calendar. Hence, he wants to see his team perform consistently at all the races next year with a standard racecar that aids them at all the circuits.

Pierre Gasly credits Lewis Hamilton for changing the sport forever
“Without him, it would be different”, says Pierre Gasly as he praises the seven-time World Champion for paving the way for young drivers. Lewis Hamilton has had his years of trailblazing and rebelling to make a difference in the sport. Gasly thinks this has abled younger drivers to express themselves fearlessly.
The Frenchman says (as quoted by Crash.net), “I think Lewis opened a lot of doors for all of us and it’s important to say, without him, it would be different these days. Actually I get on very well with Lewis, I often thank him for sticking to his values and to himself all these years because now it’s definitely made the path smoother for us young drivers.”
Hamilton has often been under scrutiny from FIA officials as the Brit has always championed his views on and off the track. Be it about dressing differently, wearing jewellery that sets him apart, speaking out on world politics, Hamilton surely hasn’t been the traditional World Champion. Gasly seems to credit him for that very reason.
