Andreas Seidl encouraged with McLaren being the fourth fastest team ahead of Alpine in Hungary

Right at the beginning of the current Formula 1 2022 season, McLaren started off with some abysmal performances that were not upto the expectations of their fans at all. But the papaya team was quick to recover from their slump as they developed their car and established themselves as the fourth fastest team by capturing the P4 spot in the Constructors’ Championship table. Even then, McLaren’s position has come under attack by Alpine, and the French team successfully went past the Woking-based outfit after the Hungarian Grand Prix.
Currently, Alpine is 4 points ahead of McLaren in the Championship race. But, Andreas Seidl, Team Principal of McLaren Racing, is happy with his team’s performance as he believes they gave a huge pushback to Alpine during the Hungarian GP as a reaction to their dropping behind the French team in the points table. Just before the summer break commenced in F1, McLaren showed that they had the pace and the power to take on Alpine as their Lando Norris surpassed both Alonso and Ocon in the final results at Hungaroring–and this has made Seidl hopeful about McLaren’s chances.
Andreas Seidl gives his take on the potential results that McLaren might yield at the end of F1 2022
Given the battle for fourth place between McLaren and Alpine, one would expect the Team Principal of the Woking-based outfit to be worried after Alpine went past McLaren in the standings right before the summer break. But for Andreas Seidl, the pushback that McLaren gave to Alpine after the faltering results has been “encouraging” and he is now hopeful that his team will regain their fourth position easily, once the races kickstart after the summer break is over.
Speaking of his reaction to Alpine leaving behind McLaren and getting hold of the fourth position in the World Championship charts, Andreas Seidl said, “Overall, seeing where we were in terms of performance in Hungary, clearly being the fourth fastest team, it is encouraging for me and a good finish of this first half of the season before going into the shutdown.”
“We haven’t forgotten how we started the season with the issues we had on the brakes, with battling at the end of the field in the Bahrain race weekend. And the strong reaction that the team has shown after that is also something which I am very happy with, very pleased with and everything is now set for a very strong second half of the season on our side, which we also need to make sure we stay in this battle for P4.”
