“Annoying as it is to be behind Fernando,” Lando Norris embittered losing out to Alpine at the Dutch GP

Lando Norris
Lando Norris finished P7 in the Dutch GP, though that’s the maximum he could have pulled off, he is still annoyed with Fernando Alonso. Alonso managed to finish his race P6 after Carlos Sainz’s penalty. McLaren again lost out to Alpine on a track they hopes to recover the ruins from. Anyhow, Lando is quite happy with his performance at the Dutch GP and appreciated the package his team brought.
Lando Norris managed a decent seventh-place finish. Though the top six spots were for the top three teams, a P7 is the maximum Lando could fight for. But the was running ahead of Fernando throughout the race but ultimately got bashed by the 40-year-old at the end of the race. This happened due to two untimed events that first caused a VSC and then an SC which got Lando a couple of pit stops.
“I’m very happy with it, as annoying as it is to be behind Fernando. They played a good game with Fernando and Esteban [Ocon], so Alpine versus me. So, they just had the advantage in the end. I think we did a good job, think we tried to cover it as much as we could. I think we had a good pace in the car today. If there was no Safety Car, as in VSCs, we would have been ahead and we would have been P7 probably still because we wouldn’t have caught the Ferraris and Red Bulls,” said Lando.
Lando Norris’ expectations from the Monza GP

Lando Norris finished the 2021 Monza GP at P2 and his teammate, going to be former teammates, won the race for McLaren last season at Monza. Italian GP has provided us with a couple of great races last few years. One of them was the 2021 Monza, where McLaren backed a P1-2 after almost a decade of not winning any races.
But Lando doesn’t want to keep high expectations from the 2022 version of the Monza GP. “But I think we are going to go to Monza and probably going to struggle a little bit. It’s more in line with Spa, low downforce, high-speed corners, slow speed and we are just not good in them. I am not expecting a lot. I guess there are some positives that we are better in high downforce, but I’m still P7… we are miles off still. So, little positives if I want to be happy about it, but we still have some very tough races coming up,” said Lando.
Lando is fighting Alpine all on his own and is still a step above the duo in the championship table. Though Alpine is still leading McLaren in the constructor championship, Daniel Ricciardo hasn’t really been up to the mix to help Lando fight the French team.
