Racing in Formula One is much more than just steering the wheels of the racecar and tackling rival drivers. And Aston Martin’s Sporting Director Andy Stevenson has just proven that fact by careful consideration of previous cases while leading Aston Martin’s dealings with the FIA. Aston Martin Formula 1 boss Mike Krack praised Stevenson as he has successfully protested against the FIA and gained the team 5 precious points–more than what AlphaTauri have amassed over the season.
Earlier this season, Stevenson protested against the FIA’s rulings and petitioned to overturn Fernando Alonso’s pitstop penalty in Saudi Arabia. He also called for a change in the Austrian Grand Prix race results amid the absurd 1200-plus cases of track-limits offences. These protests helped Alonso gain a place in both cases, reclaiming third in Jeddah and rising to fifth in Austria, resulting in an increase of 5 points for Alonso and Aston Martin.
Meanwhile, AlphaTauri are currently running dead-last in the Constructor’s Championship with a total of just 3 points after 14 Grands Prix till now. Thus, Andy Stevenson, with his protests, has actually scored more points for his team single-handedly than a whole different team have been able to.

Fernando Alonso reveals ‘lack of professionalism’ made him drive out from Alpine to Aston Martin

The Spaniard finally reveals what led him to move away from Alpine last year. “The first [act] was that Vettel retired. The second was that Alpine had been negotiating for several months and nothing was ever finalised. We agreed on everything, but the paper didn’t arrive, and I noticed a lack of professionalism”, revealed Alonso.
The two time World Champion Fernando Alonso made the move from Alpine to Aston Martin at the end of last season and it’s worked out merrily for him. Fernando has amassed 7 podiums in 14 races this season while Alpine’s have been the most inconsistent team in the paddock despite their two podiums. Aston Martin are currently P4 in the constructor’s championship, locked in battle with Ferrari for the Podium place.
