Lance Stroll had a frustrating weekend in Qatar. From his Q1 elimination on Friday to his P11 finish on Sunday, he did not take home a single point. He also became the center of controversy on Friday when he was spotted on camera shoving his trainer into the wall after his Q1 exit. Stroll later claimed that everything was fine between the two. Now, Aston Martin chief Mike Krack has given his take on the incident.

Krack claimed that tempers are bound to run high during any sport. He said that Stroll’s frustration accumulated throughout the season and he exploded at that moment. But that was in the moment and it does not mean anything more. He said that the general audience wants emotion and passion from sportspersons, but when it gets a bit more, they criticize them for it. Krack also compared F1 drivers to footballers, who are often seen on the field showing their aggression.

“The thing is, you accumulate [when] delivering below your own expectations, and then frustration comes out at one point… I think we need to have a bit more respect for the drivers and high elite sportsmen I would say,” Mike Krack as quoted by Racing News 365.

Nico Rosberg claims Lance Stroll would not have an F1 seat next year if not for Aston Martin

Lance Stroll once again had a disappointing outing in Qatar this weekend. The 24-year-old did not come out with a single point. The extreme weather conditions also had a big effect on him as he almost fainted while getting out of his car after the race. Being the target of criticism from various F1 personalities, he recently came under the target of former Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg.

Stroll’s recent behavior with his trainer and post-race interview has also put a dent in his reputation. Rosberg did not pull any punches in his statement. He claimed that if not for his father owning Aston Martin, Stroll would not even be in F1 next year. However, Aston Martin is still consistently defending Stroll, saying that he will eventually find his form.

“It’s a difficult situation. If he wasn’t the son of the man who owns the team, then he wouldn’t be driving at this level next year. But of course, it’s a different situation because the father owns the team and you shouldn’t forget that in theory, he can drive the car,” said Rosberg.
