Aston Martin team principal Mike Krack, as well as the owner/CEO Lawrence Stroll, is unhappy about the team’s sudden decline in performance. Every fan knows that Stroll made a huge impact by signing the two-time World Champion Fernando Alonso. As of now, both he and Alonso seem disappointed in this year’s car’s progression.
The decline of the team started after the upgrade packages in Hungary and Silverstone. The car’s unexpected decline in race pace surprised F1 pundits, the drivers, and the team alike. The Green team is still yet to recover the pace they showed in the first half of the season. But the problems grew even further after rumors regarding Alonso leaving the team spread in the paddock.
In his recent interview reported by LastWordOnSports, Mike Krack said:
Lawrence is not happy. But we’re not happy either. Nobody is happy.
Aston Martin team principal said it is not very easy for them to see their steep decline. From competing in the front of the grid, to now struggling within the lower midfield.
Further, Krack replied when asked about his disappointment with the team’s backward progression. He said:
If you have such a great start to the season and lose competitiveness, nobody is happy. But we don’t needStroll to tell us that.
The team’s double DNF in Mexico City GP can be regarded as their rock bottom, from where the way to the top again seems very hard.
Rumors regarding Fernando Alono’s move to Red Bull and retirement
For the last few days, rumors have circulated regarding Aston Martin and Fernando Alonso. According to the rumors, Alonso might retire or leave his Aston Martin seat for a Red Bull’s in 2024. Although this speculation is only on social media and is almost entirely without foundation. These rumors are only around because of the team’s consistently bad performance, which seems to frustrate the Spaniard.
Krack said:
These types of rumors are regularly found in the paddock and have no base and ground. We are a strong team, and we have to work cooperatively.
He believes the Spaniard would most definitely serve his multi-year contract with the team. Aston Martin has now slipped to P5 in the Standings and even lost their average pecking order position.
There needs to be a lot of work done to attain that place back before the end of the season. So, the team might just try to work on the next year’s car. The next round of this F1 season is scheduled at Interlagos this weekend, from 3-5 November.
