“At Mercedes, there was a lot of politics involved with Verstappen,” Helmut Marko details why Red Bull have a better relationship with Ferrari

Ferrari, Mercedes and Red Bull

Ferrari and Red Bull are the two front runners to win the championship this time around while Mercedes is still to resolve their issues and put on a show for the fans. Ferrari and Red Bull is a pretty new rivalry whereas Red Bull and Mercedes have been at it for the longest time. Helmut Marko has watched the rivalry between Mercedes and Red Bull from close quarters.

It started with Red Bull winning four world championships between 2010-2013 with Sebastian Vettel at the wheel. But then, just like now, there was a massive overhaul in regulation which Mercedes took full advantage of. They got their house in order and emerged as the strongest between the period of 2014-2020. But there seems to be some sort of parity between the two.

Helmut Marko has time and again said that Mercedes is a well oiled machinery whereas Ferrari and Red Bull have been team full of passion. It seems like this could be the season of the Italian Giants and the Milton Keynes outfit to fight it out at the grandest stages of all. Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen have been the drivers to beat and it’s been fascinating for the fans to watch that rivalry develop.

Helmut Marko recently showered praises for Red Bull and Ferrari while hitting out at Mercedes. He said, “Ferrari and we have a similar approach. There’s passion, fascination and sport in the foreground. At Mercedes, there was a lot of politics involved with them, which creates a different atmosphere.”

“With Ferrari there is a better relationship. What’s more, Max is now driving against [Charles] Leclerc, they grew up together in karting, have known each other for a long time, are a generation,” as reported by express.

Helmut Marko has made his opinions crystal clear regarding the differences between the functioning of two pace setters in comparison to Mercedes. He pointed out how radically different the approaches are. This is what makes it even more interesting to see how it all pans out.
