Audi is ‘on the right route’ for a grand 2026 F1 entry: Alessandro Alunni Bravi
Audi are working hard on their entry into F1 as they have teamed up with Sauber for the 2026 season.
Audi announced last august that they are all set to enter F1, in 2026, after the new engine regulations that introduce sustainable fuel and enhanced electrical power. They are partnering with Sauber who currently work with Alfa Romeo. Audi and Sauber will operate together, with Audi creating the power unit and Sauber operating and managing the operations.
In a recent interview, Sauber managing director, Alessandro Alunni Bravi gave updates about the progress made with Audi. He said, “The programme is on the right route. We are working hard to develop the team in these next two seasons.” Audi is all set to give competition to Red Bull and Mercedes. They acknowledge the competition at hand and are working consistently to tackle the challenges.
Sauber currently operates with Alfa Romeo and their partnership is set to come to an end soon. Following this separation, Sauber will move on to partner with Audi. They will prepare throughout the next two seasons and finally launch in 2026.
According to Audi, it’s been tough with the financial constraints but they are working on finding quality and developing a competitive racing car. Audi has set their headquarters in Germany and Sauber will operate from Switzerland.
Potential drivers for Audi as they gear up for an F1 2026 entry
While its too soon for Audi to confirm its drivers, fans can’t help but start predicting who is going to get the prestigious seat. As of now, Le Mans Winner, Neel Jani has joined the team as a simulator driver. Neel Jani is a Swiss driver who is also a reserve driver for Red Bull and has driven in formula e.
One of the top contenders for the seat will be Valtteri Bottas, who currently drives for Alpha Romeo. With Sauber and Alpha Romeo’s partnership coming to and end, he will be left without a team and is desperate for a seat in Audi. Bottas previously used to drive in Mercedes and was replaced with George Russel.
Another contender for the Audi seat is Carlos Sainz who is in close contact with Sauber CEO Andreas Seidl, and with rumours emerging about Hamilton joining Ferrari, there is a high chance Sainz might take up a seat at Audi.
Rest assured, 2026 would be an interesting season, with Audi joining the race. Mercedes, Red Bull, and Ferrari should buckle up and embrace for what might hit them.
