Fernando Alonso, after the 2023 Australian GP, has now scored three P3 finishes in a row. However, while the first two were pretty smooth, his latest podium finish at Albert Park was everything but smooth. The Australian GP was a chaotic affair, and after all the drama that unfolded on the track, the Spanish starlet has got another solid result in his kitty for the ongoing campaign.

Ahead of today’s race, no one had expected the chaos that ensued on the track, Fernando Alonso while shedding on his P3, and the chaotic Australian GP said, “Probably not! We had a roller coaster of emotions today. Many things are going on at the beginning and now at the last half. It was difficult to understand what was going on but the race itself was good for us.”

He added, “Mercedes were very fast, and Lewis did an incredible job today. I couldn’t match the pace or close the gap today, so I’ll take the P3. The first red flag did help us because George and Carlos came in, so we took those positions for free. Then the second red flag didn’t help with the incident there, but we got lucky again and had another opportunity to see the checkered flag in P3. A little bit higher up on the podium because three third places.. let’s go for a second place at least.”

Fernando Alonso, in 2022 was making his trade for the Alpine F1 team, and was seen mostly fighting it out among the midfield teams. However, with his move to Aston Martin this year, the trajectory of his F1 career has shifted. This year, he has been regularly fighting at the business end of the grid and, after three events, has already scored 45 points in the season.

The Spaniard has an extremely solid package underneath him with the AMR23, and he has been able to extract everything from it so far in the 2023 F1 season. Moreover, if the Silverstone-based team is able to keep on developing its car as the seasons would roll on, then there would be a very good chance of seeing Alonso standing on the top podium.

Considering how the 2023 F1 season has panned out so far for Fernando Alonso and Aston Martin, big things will be expected of them this year. The team has got the backing of its owner Lawrence Stroll and have got everything at its disposal to keep improving. Taking this into account, how do you see the upcoming races panning out for Alonso and Co?
