‘The behavior of the car is different,’ Max Verstappen gives a striking insight after topping Day 1 on Pre-Season testing
Max Verstappen states what he has learned from Day 1 of pre season testing.

Day 1 of pre-season testing was a big hit for Max Verstappen. The Red Bull Racing driver ended the day with the most laps recorded. When it comes to testing, F1 teams never show their real pace in an attempt to keep their competitors in the dark. Apart from that, teams are running different programs where the fuel levels in each car are different.
The only aspect that teams can observe is their competitor’s reliability. The teams who compete for the most laps prove to be the most reliable cars. Max Verstappen and Red Bull had a great first day. Christian Horner already sounded pleased with the team’s performance. Verstappen, on the other hand, also had the same thoughts. The RB19 is here to stay, it seems.
Red Bull decided to have Max Verstappen run for the first three sessions out of the six. Sergio Perez will drive the remaining three. Max, on the other hand, sounded pretty pleased with how the day went. The day one timesheet was topped by the Dutchman, who recorded a time of 1:32.8 seconds. The Red bull driver also clocked in a total of 157 laps which was almost double the second-highest number of laps covered by a driver.

Max Verstappen gives his input on day 1 of pre-season testing
While speaking to Verstappen.com, here is what he had to say. “It went well. We could do a lot of laps, and that’s exactly what we were hoping for. The day went smoothly, without any problems, so we could focus on the car and learning to understand the new tyres,” the driver stated. It seems like the 2-time world champion truly enjoyed himself on the track on Thursday.
“We came here with all the knowledge of last year’s car, so that’s an easier start for everyone. It’s nice to see the new car and the development from last year. The behaviour of the car is slightly different, also because of the tyres. It was a good day to understand all that,” Verstappen stated as he summed up his first two sessions for F1 pre-season testing in Bahrain.
However, this is just day 1 of testing. Two more days remain until the F1 track action concludes before the opening race in Bahrain. It will be interesting to see how Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez cope with the tantrums that Ferrari and Mercedes will have for them. The top 3 from last year are looking really strong ahead of the first race of the season. All is to play for the pinnacle of motorsport.
