Lewis Hamilton, since landing in Miami, has been very vocal about LGBTQ+ rights and has even disappointingly made it known that things in Florida are almost as bad as how certain communities are treated in Saudi Arabia. While the Brit has bashed the Florida decision-makers, American Conservative columnist Ben Shapiro has called out Hamilton for his comments.

Ben Shapiro, while sharing his displeasure toward Lewis Hamilton via Twitter, wrote, “Yes, Florida is just like Saudi Arabia; you are a genius.” Looking at Shapiro’s strong response, it is evident that he is not happy with Lewis Hamilton’s comments about Florida. Moreover, he is not the only one who resents the Brit.

Lewis Hamilton, while addressing the media on Thursday, bashed the anti-LGBTQ measures that have been put in place by the Florida lawmakers. He said, “It’s not good at all. I stand by those within the community here. I hope they continue to stand firm and push back. I’ll have the rainbow on my helmet. It’s no different to when we were in Saudi.”

I did hear and have read about some of the decisions that have been made in government here and I do not agree with it and I do not support it. I really do continue to stand with the LGBTQ community and I’m wearing a rainbow flag on my helmet this weekend and I just really want to continue to support the community here and let them know I stand with them and I hope they continue to fight against it.”

The 38-year-old has made it crystal clear that no matter who stands in the way of the LGBTQ community in Florida, he is going to be by their side no matter what. He is the only black racer in F1 and has, on every occasion, raised his voice against any kind of injustice in the World. He has always fought for what he feels is right and will continue to do so.

While Lewis Hamilton has admitted that he is not happy with the state of things in America, he feels that the blame goes on the decision-makers. He further said, “It’s not the people of Miami that are making these decisions, it’s the people in government and that’s the issue. I think, hopefully, all I can do – the sport is going to be here whether I am or not – but the least I can do is just continue to be supportive and just being here and having that on my helmet, hopefully, that speaks well to the subject.”

I love being in the States, but I can’t ignore what’s going on right now and what some in the government are trying to do to the women who live here. Everyone should have the right to choose what they do with their bodies. We can’t let that choice be taken away.” Hamilton here has shed light on the Supreme Court’s decision to end the nationwide right to legal abortion.

The Mercedes driver has always tried to be the voice of the voiceless and used his humongous reach to spread specific messages. With the Miami GP weekend officially getting underway in a few hours time, do you think the Brit would once again bring the issues facing certain communities in the United States back into the limelight? Considering how passionately Lewis Hamilton speaks about specific issues, there is every possibility that he would speak about them again if an opportunity arose.
