Bernie Ecclestone, the British business magnate, is well-known for giving his opinions. His recent one was about Mick Schumacher, the son of the seven-time world champion and racing legend Micheal Schumacher. Mick does not have a seat for the 2023 season after Haas terminated his contract last year. He is now the reserve driver for Mercedes AMG Petronas.

Mick Schumacher spent two seasons with Haas and failed to impress the F1 grid. The team replaced him with Nico Hulkenberg. Nevertheless, he has a role in Formula One with Mercedes, thanks to the team boss Toto Wolff who trusts in the potential of the young German. However, Ecclestone is not a fan of Mick Schumacher’s career choices.

The former CEO of the Formula One group stated to SportBild that Micheal would have helped his son with his career choices if not for the skiing accident. “With all his experience, Michael could have talked to his son about so many details. He could have pointed him in the right direction in terms of driving, but also politically.”.  Micheal Schumacher met with an accident in 2013 while skiing and not much has been revealed about his status.

Ecclestone criticized Mick Schumacher’s choices regarding Haas and Ferrari. He declared, “Red Bull would have been much better for him. There, they look after him more and could have developed him better”. He firmly believes that the young German would have had growth in Red Bull rather than the Ferrari driver academy.

Mick Schumacher, last year at the Silverstone circuit, went toe-to-toe with the seven-time world champion Sir Lewis Hamilton and two-time world champion Max Verstappen. He scored his first points in Formula One which called for a big celebration. Both his mother and sister were present, and the only one missing was his father. Ecclestone stated that the burden of Mick Schumacher’s name is a heavy one to carry.

Ecclestone has also been receiving a lot of backlash on social media for his open and plain comments. But he remains undefeated. Nevertheless, Mick Schumacher is happy to join the Mercedes family. The pre-season testing is underway, and Schumacher will be present in the Mercedes garage helping out the team.
