Felipe Massa on August 15 had sent a formal legal notice to all the authorities of FIA, suing them for having knowledge about the deliberate crash. He charged them for damages caused both in monetary as well as reputational terms.  This legal action was taken by Massa after the controversial interview of Bernie Ecclestone where he said that he and Max Mosley, both had knowledge about the planned Crash.

During the 2008 singapore grand prix, Renault made their driver Nelson Piquet Jr. deliberately crash so that their other driver – Fernando Alonso could make the much-needed Pit Stop. The crash caused Felippe Massa to drop from P1 to P13 and seriously affected his chances of winning the grand prix.

Because of this crash, Felippe Massa lost the World Championship by a single point to Lewis Hamilton. The scandal came out the following year and Felippe Massa begged the FIA officials to revoke the Singapore gp results and take back Lewis Hamilton’s title, which was denied.

Now the scandal has again come into light with the remarks made by Bernie Ecclestone saying he and Max Mosley were aware about the planned crash. But recently, Ecclestone has given statements denying that he gave that interview or that he accepted he was aware about Renaults plan.
