‘Bitterness in front of the home crowd’: Italian Media find ‘reason to smile’ despite Ferrari’s disappointing home loss at the hands of Red Bull

Ferrari lost out to Red Bull at their home for the second time this season. Imola was the first Italian GP to witness a loss for the Italian team but Tifosi hopes for a head-to-head clash at the historical track, Monza. Red Bull had a very fast car in Monza, to no extent would have Ferrari won in a head-to-head battle. But the strategy was something that could have helped the Italian team win and everything went in the right direction.

By the end of the first stint, Ferrari had a comfortable lead with Max chasing down from Seventh place. Verstappen was on a one-stopper while Ferrari wanted to go for a two-stop strategy which wasn’t a wrong choice as per the Italian media. Though things went right, bad luck and worse decision-making by the FIA got Ferrari in a loss. Charles Leclerc was disappointed after doing what he could and so was Carlos Sainz. It would have been a possible double podium for the Red team at their home but they had to settle for a P2-P4 finish.

Italian media supported their team through the loss, “The truth is that Monza, above all, ensured that the team spirit was rediscovered, which allows us to look ahead to 2023 with fundamental confidence. This time Binotto and his men did everything they had to do. Even at a strategic level, Ferrari is not to blame, “ According to the Italian La Gazzetta Dello Sport.

“The Ferrari driver didn’t even get the chance to challenge Max Verstappen, because the race ended behind the safety car. Of course, it is not certain that the Monegasque would have won, as the Dutchman was going very fast and had deserved first place up to that point. The fact remains that there is bitterness, especially in front of the home crowd,” said Corriere Dello Sport.

Ferrari lost out on luck to Max Verstappen at Monza

Max Verstappen

Ferrari got a chance to get the race going, this time it wasn’t any of the mistakes they did to turn up with a loss. But bad luck just got Ferrari another time which didn’t let them win the race. Max Verstappen finished the race under the safety car and won it without a fight. With a decent amount of controversies around, Max received a few boos on the podium too.

“Let’s leave conspiracies aside, but in fact Verstappen was able to accelerate immediately after the VSC ended, preventing Leclerc from taking full advantage of the quick pit stop. Ferrari celebrated half with Leclerc’s podium and a very possible third place for Carlos Sainz, who made a mad comeback from the eighteenth place. In a weekend full of pressure and expectations, there are reasons to smile, especially because of Ferrari’s rediscovered competitiveness,” said Sky Sports Italia.

Max Verstappen could very much go on and win the championship at Singapore if things go in the right direction for the Dutchman he becomes the second-time world champion, this time in a very right way.
