Sergio Perez, the former six-time Grand Prix winner, has not had an easy time since joining the Red Bull F1 team. Perez has not been able to match the might of Max Verstappen and on most occasions, has proved second best against him.
Seeing Sergio Perez‘s 2024 struggles in trying to keep up with Max Verstappen, the former two-time German VLN series winner, Bradley Philpot has made it known that the former doesn’t deserve to be competing in F1.
Perez has so far managed 46 points in the ongoing campaign.
Most of his time he’s had a car that’s way easier to drive, better, he can afford to be further away from Max and still get front-running finishes. I think Perez is in my opinion ’doesn’t deserve to be on the grid’ based on us putting the top 20 drivers in the world.Bradley Philphot said on the Missed Apex Podcast
The 34-year-old has been making his trade with Red Bull since 2021. Despite being in his fourth year with the Milton-Keynes-based outfit, Perez has yet to put forward a real challenge in front of the reigning world champion.
Christian Horner claims Sergio Perez has no ‘specific criteria’ to save Red Bull seat
While Sergio Perez has got brutally bashed by Bradley Philpot around his seat Red Bull seat, Christian Horner has made it known that there are no specific criteria for Perez to get a contract extension. Horner believes Perez at the least, has to keep coming up with performances that are somewhat close to Verstappen.
Perez managed a fifth-place finish at the Albert Park F1 circuit.
There’s no set criteria. He’s got to do enough to earn that seat and, days like today, he’s done exactly what he’s got to deliver.Christian Horner said in an interview with Express.co.uk
The Mexican driver has a wealth of experience when it comes to the pinnacle of motor racing. Being a Red Bull driver has helped him immensely in improving his stats, but despite this, he has not been able to make full use of having a racing seat on a top team like Red Bull. Perez should eye a few Grand Prix wins this year in order to secure a contract extension with the Austrian outfit for 2025.
