Can Mercedes claim their first victory of the season in France?

Mercedes cars in action
Mercedes launched their W13 back in February with high hopes to continue their domination for the last 8 years, bringing the same winning theme back to their garage with the new regulations introduced in 2022. But things aren’t the best for Mercedes, they have struggled to decode the new Aerodynamic norms with a majority of their season given to solving the porpoising issues. In 2021 the silver arrows managed to back the constructor title with 10 wins throughout the season.
In 2022 Mercedes have only managed a total of 7 podiums, 4 to the 7-time world champion Lewis Hamilton and 3 to the new driver George Russell. Though Mercedes has come a long way in the season after a disappointing race in Bahrain, they have managed to get the upgrades with top-notch precision in Spain. They came very close to the likes of Red Bull and Ferrari in Spain and Silverstone but failed to get the win. In France, Mercedes plans to get another major upgrade that might level them up with Red Bull, also with the regulations regarding Flexi floor coming into force in Belgium, things might take a turn for Mercedes and they might get the win they are looking for.

Who could get Mercedes their first win this season George Russell or Lewis Hamilton?

George has been spectacular this season, considering the car he has been given, the 24-year-old has managed a top 5 finish in all races except one in Silverstone after an unfortunate crash with Zhou. He has managed to completely trash his teammate in the championship and was ahead of Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz on the table. If it comes to pure pace George still lacks a few tenths of his teammate, but with his skills, George could easily be a bet for the first win for Mercedes in 2022.
Lewis Hamilton, a seven-time world champion, was unlucky last season to lose the last race after a safety car controversy and didn’t manage to get his record-breaking eighth title. Though he managed a total of 9 race wins last season, there hasn’t been a single season since his debut when he didn’t manage a single race win. This time around it looks tough for the 37-year-old to get a win with the worst car he has had to drive since 2007. Hamilton came close to the victory IN Silverstone but went unlucky due to a safety car and had to settle for third place. Though he managed a hattrick of podiums it still seems quite a bit for his team to get the win and looks to get his form back which is the best Mercedes could hop for. If anyone could push the car to the finish line on the top spot, many would put their money on Lewis and that’s the right move to do.
