“Car is still awful,” Fans furious with Mercedes after Lewis Hamilton’s disastrous start at Miami GP
Lewis Hamilton
Lewis Hamilton’s woes seem to be never-ending. After having better sessions on Friday and Sunday when compared to the earlier rounds of the season, Lewis started P6 in Miami but immediately lost two places in the first lap.
As the signal went green and the race went underway, Lewis reported Alpine’s Fernando Alonso touching the rear of his car and reported damage. And while Lewis did overtake Alonso easily in the coming lap, the fans complained of the car, filled with issues mostly pertaining to porpoising. It isn’t difficult to spot the lack of pace in the W13, which justifies the fan’s complaints.
The porpoising still appeared to be the issue for the Silver Arrows, as was seen in the practice and qualifying as well. And as Toto Wolff said that the team has plenty of directions to proceed to fix the car, they seem to have struck a nerve with Lewis Hamilton as they did find pace but it wasn’t enough as they or the fans would’ve desired.
What’s ahead for Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes?
Lewis Hamilton’s start in the race still worried the fans. Losing two places immediately meant an early avoidable chase for the Briton. However, in totality, things look better.
The seven-time champion made the most use of his experience to get ahead of Alonso and Gasly, but the pace that he had in his W13 was visibly better than the past rounds and the competitors as well. So, it’s clear that the direction that the Brackley-based outfit has taken is right and something to build upon.
