Carlos Sainz and Kevin Magnussen will both have grid penalties starting from the back of the grid after taking engine penalties. Let’s start with Carlos Sainz, who looks to recover from that unfortunate race in Austria. It looked like the Spaniard was all set to secure yet another podium in Red Bull’s backyard but unfortunately he couldn’t finish the race due to an engine blowout.

Just like Charles Leclerc in Canada, Carlos Sainz will also have to start from the back of the grid. It’s a shame for him as he looks as the better Ferrari out of the two in France. Earlier on Friday, it was confirmed that he will have a 10 place grid penalty but since Ferrari has opted to go for a new internal combustion engine, turbocharger, MGU-H and MGU-K means it’s a back of grid start for him.

It’s the same case for Kevin Magnussen who will also start from the back. Between the two of them, who will finish higher in qualifying, will start 19th and the latter will start 20th. This could prove to be a huge dent for Ferrari and Haas in the constructor’s championship. They will be hoping to make the most out of it and limit the damage as much as possible.

Mattia Binotto, in a recent interview, talking on the current situation said, “I think by the time that we are changing components, we change many of them, make sure that he has fresh components on the car and it’s very likely he’ll be at the back of the grid.”

“It’s always difficult to overtake, but he’s got the pace. It can be a good race for him.

I think he’s focusing on trying to have a good weekend and trying to minimise the disadvantage of the penalties,” reported skysports.

Carlos Sainz and Kevin Magnussen will have to pull out the rabbit from the hat on a circuit in France which is difficult to overtake, if they want to get something out of the race.
