The 2023 F1 season is fourteen rounds down and has already seen several experiments around the Sprint race format. The format was brought into the sport to increase the excitement levels on a Saturday, but it has not been able to live up to the expectations, and amidst the mixed viewpoints around it, Carlos Sainz has come up with a unique idea.

As per the Spaniard, there is a lot of potential around Sprint races and how the event can be made more entertaining going forward into the future of F1. He ardently believes that an inverted F1 grid for Sprint races is the way to go and could help generate a lot of interest in the sport.

While talking about his idea in detail, he said, as reported by Soymotor, “I have an idea that I would implement on the sprint weekends: an inverted grid with the order of the World Championship classification. You just have to imagine Max Verstappen starting last, the Ferraris starting 13th or 14th. The entire grid would be closer.”

Max, starting in 20th place, could reach the ‘top 10’ or even the ‘top 5 ‘. And those who started in eighth place could achieve their only points of the year.” Carlos Sainz’s Sprint race idea is sure to raise quite a few eyebrows within the F1 paddock, but considering the trend that the sport is in on in recent years, the F1 hierarchy could have a discussion about it in the near future.

While Carlos Sainz has not held back from sharing his fascinating idea with the F1 community, he has a few immediate problems at the Ferrari F1 team. Firstly, the SF-23 has not been able to match the pace of the front-running RB19, and secondly, the outfit is having a hard time in securing second place in the Constructors Championship.

Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc have not been able to unleash their full potential in Ferrari’s car this year, leading to ever-growing frustrations within the Ferrari camp. However, despite the issues, the Maranello-based team secured a surprisingly strong finish at the Italian GP.

Next up on the F1 calendar is this week’s event at the Marina Bay Street Circuit, and several eyes will be on Sainz and Co. The Ferrari F1 team has so far managed 228 points in the season in comparison to Mercedes’s 273, and considering this, the Singapore GP holds a lot of significance for them.
